01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

SOFIA PIZZA NAPOLETANA stands as a true beacon of authentic Neapolitan cuisine in the vibrant heart of Rome. Located just a stone’s throw from iconic landmarks like Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, this pizza restaurant offers not just a meal, but a genuine slice of Naples’ culinary soul.

At SOFIA PIZZA NAPOLETANA, the emphasis is on traditional Neapolitan pizzas, lovingly crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with flavor. Whether you’re craving the classic simplicity of a Margherita—with its perfectly blistered crust and fragrant basil—or the robust, savory notes of the Salsiccia e Friarielli, each pizza is a symphony of textures: a soft, airy dough with a delicate crunch around the edges, layered with vibrant tomato sauce and creamy mozzarella. For those seeking bold flavors, the Diavola delivers a spicy kick, while the 4 Formaggi delights with a luscious blend of cheeses melting in harmony.

Beyond pizza, the menu unfolds a treasure trove of Southern Italian favorites. Indulge in comforting Gnocchi alla Sorrentina or elegant Linguine alla Luciano. Not to be missed are the crispy, golden delights from the frittura section—Cuoppo Napoletano and Mozzarella in Carrozza offer perfect contrasts of crunchy exteriors and rich, melty interiors, guaranteed to satisfy fried food enthusiasts.

The dining atmosphere matches the authenticity of the food. This cozy spot embraces a casual self-service model, where you order and pay up front, then collect your piping hot meal yourself. While some may find this setup unconventional, it adds to the inviting, laid-back vibe that attracts both locals and travelers alike. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness enhance the experience, making every visit feel personal and genuine.

Customers consistently praise the exceptional dough, noting its airy softness combined with just the right level of crispiness—a balance notoriously difficult to master. Vegan diners have been delighted by the simplicity and soul of the Marinara, while anchovy aficionados rave about dishes where this ingredient shines. It’s clear that SOFIA PIZZA NAPOLETANA doesn’t just make pizza; it crafts memorable moments.

Though the restaurant’s intimate size means seating is limited and tables are cozy, its unbeatable location and stellar food more than make up for it. And if you prefer to take your meal to go, pricing is transparent with clear signage for takeaway options.

In essence, SOFIA PIZZA NAPOLETANA is a must-visit for anyone longing to experience authentic Neapolitan flavors in Rome. It’s a place where passion for tradition meets friendly service, and every bite tells a story of Italian heritage.

This place is an absolute gem in the heart of Rome! we had the best Neapolitan pizza - perfectly baked, with incredible flavour and fresh ingredients. They have self-service, you order and pay first and then pick-up your order. The staff were so kind and helpful and made the whole experience very enjoyable. Perfect location, just one minute walk away from Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. If you’re in Rome and love pizza, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Hands down the fluffiest, most flavour-packed pizza I’ve had on my whole trip through Italy! I’m vegan, so I usually go for the classic marinara—and wow, they took this simple dish and turned it into something extraordinary. Light, crispy, full of soul. Fantastico! Grazie mille, you truly made my day!

It's our second time coming here. A clean plate after a meal means super delicious food! If you like pizza with a super nice base, this is the place! We love Napoli because of the anchovies.

The food is amazing, I don’t recall what we ordered exactly, but oneof them was a classic and the other was recommended. However, the place is quite small and the tables are small enough and what shocked me is that I have to go pickup the pizza instead of a waiter service. Also, the prices mentioned on the door are for takeaway and it’s a bit misleading since we expected to pay less and ended up paying more, a good approach is to be more transparent and put both prices infront. Overall though, recommend the pizzas!!!

Excelent dough, crust was soft, crunchy, and with enough air, very difficult to achieve. Some of the ingredients could use a bit of seasoning, a bit bland. Very good service, nice people. Would go again

This is one of the best Pizzerias in Rome. I am a pizza nerd, I make Neapolitan pizza with my dove and I can never match the quality of this pizza. They use 100% hydration which makes really fluffy and soft crust, and tastes incredible. It is really hard to make this, and that’s why you won’t find this at many places. Pizzas are big (we got two for four people with some suppli.
